Manhattan Helicopters Flies America’s Got Talent Singer Alondra Santos

NEW YORK, NY – Manhattan Helicopters flew America’s Got Talent (AGT) semifinalist Alondra Santos on a helicopter tour around the city Saturday morning. The show’s producers and crew filmed the experience, which aired Tuesday night during the AGT semifinals. The one-minute segment featured Alondra and her father seeing all the famous sights of New York from the backseat of a company Bell 407.

On liftoff from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, Alondra expressed that “she felt like Superman”. Alondra, a 13-year old Mariachi singer from El Monte, California was an early favorite in the show performing her own Mariachi twist on famous Latin songs like Selena’s “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”. Santos had never been to New York City before appearing at Radio City Music Hall, so AGT producers wanted to showcase her first helicopter tour of Manhattan.

Tuesday night, the helicopter tour package aired to NBC primetime viewers nationwide. Santos performed Ricky Martin’s “Ole, Ole, Ole” with backup dancers and a Mariachi stage set. AGT judge Howard Stern said it was great and that the audience was singing with her. He also reminded viewers of her experience at her young age.

Judge Howie Mandell loved her performance and applauded her beautiful expression of her Mexican culture. Judge Heidi Klum praised Alondra for her performance while judge Mel B questioned Alondra’s song choice, wanting a song that showcased more of her vocal range.

“We were delighted to fly Alondra and her father, to let them experience Manhattan from the air. We wish her so much success in her future singing endeavors,” said Manhattan Helicopters CEO and Chief Pilot Itai Shoshani.

Wednesday night, Santos was eliminated in the results show, but the judges were certain she had a bright singing career ahead of her. She has performed at charity events that benefit causes such as American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Hope for Haiti telethon, and the Chile Earthquake telethon. Santos sings in both Spanish and English and hopes to showcase her unique Mariachi singing style to the world.

Manhattan Helicopters has three tours that are available to the general public and can be booked by calling (917) 720-4659 or emailing info@manhattanhelicopters.com. The full AGT episode can be viewed at NBC.com.
